2017 Pacific Math Alliance Workshop

The Pacific Math Alliance will host a workshop on October 14th, 2017 at California State University, Northridge (see location and directions information here).

The purpose of this meeting is to find ways for faculty, from all higher education institutions in California, to formally collaborate towards creating a better place for Underrepresented Minority Students in Mathematics, and then to use all these ideas to write the mission of the Pacific Math Alliance (PMA).  Also, in this meeting we expect to establish a structure for the PMA and create 'committees' that will work on projects that will benefit all our students.

As students from different institutions may have very different needs, this meeting will feature speakers representing Mathematics departments in the CSU, UC, and California Community College systems, as well as those in Private Universities and Colleges in California. Students will also have an opportunity to give their own perspective before we get to work on a plan for the future of the PMA.

The workshop will run from 9:00AM through 5:00PM (see a tentative schedule here)

Registration is free and lunch will be provided.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, October 10th, 2017.

Sponsored by the CSU Alliance for PUMP (NSF grant DMS-1247679)
